Utilizing our wealth of experience in global business, we address issues and provide resources to questions you may have in day-to-day business operations—questions such as what type of lawyer you need when importing and exporting goods to and from the United States, incorporating a company, or forming an alliance with another company; what type of accountant you need when consolidating your parent company’s financial statements; and how to prepare for negotiations with an overseas company for the first time. We can answer questions of a confidential nature.
[ Selecting the right lawyer ]
Client: a Japanese manufacturer
The client was having a dispute with the U.S. Customs authorities over the customs declaration of goods they had imported into the United States. The client had retained a Japanese lawyer as they were more comfortable with a Japanese-speaking lawyer. But they were not very happy with the way the lawyer was handling the case as he was very slow in responding to them. We found that the lawyer specialized in company incorporation. He had to outsource handling of the customs’ dispute to another lawyer specializing in that field. We introduced the client to a lawyer who specialized in US customs. He quickly solved the dispute between the client and the U.S. Customs.
[ Providing Market information ]
Client: a Japanese trading company
The client wished to keep track of grain market prices in the United States, but did not know how. In addition, the staffer assigned to the project was not proficient in English. What we did for the client was to purchase a Chicago grain market report on a regular basis and create a summary in Japanese.
[ Choosing the right trade show ]
Client: a Japanese manufacturer
The client wished to participate in a trade show in the Unites States but did not know which was the best one. We researched the clients’ needs and trade shows and found the right trade show for their needs.
Testimonial by a staffer in the international business department in a Japanese trading company
When we decided to expand our business overseas, we did not know where to start. The project was not large enough to warrant the hiring of a full-time consultant. All we wanted to know was the right approach to take. We were pleased that US-JAPAN CONSULTING answered any question—big and small—we raised. They did a lot of time-consuming research for us using their extensive network, so I was able to use my time more productively. US-JAPAN CONSULTING is a navigator you cannot do without in global business.
Testimonial by a Japanese manufacturer
We were planning to establish a subsidiary in the Unites States. But we did not have the big picture of how we should work with lawyers, accountants and banks to start one up. US-JAPAN CONSULTING provided us with a procedural overview of company incorporation as well as advice on what to expect from experts of different fields involved in the start-up process. All the information proved to be a tremendous help for us. We were surprised to learn how business practices in the United States were different from those in Japan. If we had had to do everything by ourselves, it would have taken forever to complete the project. We were fortunate to have US-JAPAN CONSULTING to rely on.
